Changes to Instructions in writing (Tremcards) - ADR 2009
The 2009 version of the ADR has introduced big changes to instructions in writing (TREMCARDS as was), in both content and who is responsible for supplying them.
Fully effective from 1st July 2009.
The major changes
The driver / haulage company has to provide their own instructions in writing as per ADR 2009.
The instructions are required in a language that the vehicle crew can understand (Polish driver, Polish instructions etc). It is your responsibility to ensure both as a consignor and/or an haulier that the current regulations are complied with.
There is now a new set of instructions to cover all dangerous goods. This means the cards will no longer be UN number specific.
What happens to Tremcards from July 2009?
As of 1st July 2009 Tremcards constructed under the previous ADR 2007 regulations with a UN number are no longer required by law.
However these are still being used on a voluntary basis by a number of carriers and a large number of our clients, who believe there are safety implications in not carrying the old style UN numbered cards.
Its function now is as an aid to the driver who do not speak the language of the consignor. He/she would bring their TREMCARD in with them when collecting goods. Pages 2 and 3 have pictures of all the warning diamonds. Whilst the goods are being loaded, you as the consignor would point to the warning diamond to let them know what is being loaded.
We provide a laminated copy of the ADR 2009 Tremcard in all the usual languages at a cost of £10 per language, order on line or contact us.
Tremcards of both ADR 2007 & 2009 are still available from us on a 24/7 basis. If you want further clarification, please contact Peter on 01977 520 520.
